Pearl was found in a dumpster along with two other kittens in Pointe St-Charles, Montreal. She was brought to Clinique Vétérinaire de Pointe St-Charles by the person who saved her. Pearl's paw was badly broken. The vets tried to save her injured leg but unfortunately they had to amputate it a couple of weeks later.

We met Pearl a few days after she was brought to the clinic and we were deeply moved by her story and her incredible sweetness and resiliency.

The idea of someone throwing kittens to the garbage became unbearable. We contacted some friends and gathered 21 tracks from amazing, generous, experimental artists from Montreal, the US and Europe and put together this compilation. All proceeds will be donated to the clinic to help cover the expenses of Pearl's care and surgery.

As a band, they were really doing something strange at the time by making music that sounded so resolutely like it came from the bedroom of a solo producer. "Vocals" are just snatches of floating sound, drums are often electronic... all the instruments sound electronic. They were clearly inspired by dub (who isn't) and started with stripped-down fragments, but then kept whittling down from there. Mood-wise they're bleak yet beautiful, like enjoying a solo walk in an industrial landscape. Jascha Narveson
